Maths Goal

Math goal:Show remainders  when dividing whole numbers.

I think i did well on completing the questions independently.

I think i did good on completing it fast.

My next step is to complete questions with harder numbers.

Maths Goal

Math goal: Use multiplication facts to solve problems by doubling and halving.

I was able to understand the strategy easy.

I know when to use this strategy.

My next step it to complete harder problems with different numbers besides 2.

Position and Orientation

Position and orientation

Achievement Objectives:

Level 3

Use a coordinate system or the language of direction and distance to specify locations and

describe paths.

Level 4
Communicate and interpret locations and directions, using compass directions, distances, and
grid references.

Using Directional Language

Success criteria:
  • Use four turns using fractions or angles e.g. ¾ turn or 90 degree turn
  • Use compass directions only e.g. north, north east
  • Use feet as a measurement e.g. move 4 feet north

I learnt how to use compass directions and fractions to figure my way to the treasure.

Using the Coordinate System

Self Reflection:

What did you do well,
Directing my buddy to the write way and listening to the directions.
What are your next steps?
To use angles when mapping and finding coordinates.

Term 2 statistics

Strand Math Sample

Level 3 Learning Outcomes:
- gain information from a variety of data displays.
- be aware of the type of data each display is appropriate for and the kind of pattern/relationship it best communicates.
- link others’ claims with the appropriateness of displays used.

WALT: Sort data into categories

Wiremu is allowed to choose a pet for his birthday. He decides to find out what pets
his classmates have. He gives each classmate a blank data card, asks them to list
any pets they have, and collects the cards. With a classmate, discuss Wiremu’s data
. Which information is necessary? Which information is unnecessary? Which data is difficult to interpret?

Make a comment on one piece of data from above:

Unnecessary group (why is it unnecessary?): i put nothing in unnecessary because it doesn't relate to the question.

Hard to interpret group  (why is it hard to interpret?): 3 birds 1 is sick and is being treated doesnt make sense

WALT: Interpret and communicate findings about data

The class next door did a similar survey to the one above but they were asked to name their favourite pet. The results are shown on this tally chart and then presented on the bar graph:

Write three statements that interpret the data shown above:

  1. cats are most popular to the people in the class

  1.  There are 30 people that picked cause there are 30 people in the class

  1.  guinea pigs are the least popular cause only 4 people picked it out of 30 people.

Discuss with a classmate which graph (bar graph or pie graph) you would prefer to use to show
the information and why?
I would pick bar graph because it is the easiest to read and understand.
What is the mean of the data above? (Show your working)
12+8+6+4=30
30 divided by 4 =7.5 is the mean

Personal Reflection:
what is going good for me : that i can understand bar graphs in statistics
What is going good for me :i'm able to figure out out the answers for the questions above e.g 30 divided by 4 =
my next step is to: learn how to use pie graphs with statistics
